The United States vs. Billie Holiday Reviews

I usually like historical pieces but this one just wasn’t for me. I didn’t find it super engaging. I found more enjoyment simply googling Billie Holiday which I did do as this movie played in the background.

I didn’t like how the FBI agent storyline is so folded into her story, especially since that relationship wasn’t actually true. Most of the portrayal is accurate—her attitude and personality especially. Andra devoured the role and deserved far more recognition.

beautiful movie one of my favorites

Important historical information

not sure how much of it is historically accurate and it was kind of all over the place however andra’s performance was incredible and the supporting cast just as much. beautiful soundtrack and vocals. loved some of the cinematography and costume designs.

This movie was as honest as they come. It is hard to portray the very complicated life of Billie Holiday in just a few hours, but they pulled it off. The struggles, the defiance, the broken humanness, the brutal authenticity; it’s all there. 10/10

fucking beautiful and she deserved a better life

Balled my eyes out.

Very powerful

Incredible story of a brave woman that wouldn’t change her convictions for an easier life. Day nails it. Plenty of other great performances.

💔 also, natashaaaa

Incredible performances

Really good but also a sad watch. I like how nothing is sugar coated in slightest but also enjoyable. I thought I wouldn’t like it since i picked it to watch for a class but i was surprised.
