The Thing Reviews

i’m going to rate this movie on several parameters:
-the effects seemed a bit much at times (6/10)
-the way Kate was the final survivor (9/10)
-the homemade chili i made and enjoyed while watching this (7.5/10)
-my chances of survival (3.5/10)
-the ending (5/10)
total: 5.2/10

I thought this was pretty freaking dope. Absolutely not as good as the og, but it’s cool that this was basically a remake posing as a prequel because it followed A LOT of the same beats as the og, because they were going through the same stuff, just a little bit different.

7/10

The OG is better by far

CRAAAAZZZZYYYY 8/10

Watch John Carpenters from the 80s film instead

Why did they even try

4/10. Worse in nearly every way than Carpenter’s. The CGI, writing, and characters are quite bad. While it offers some flashes of something better or more unique, it executes these very poorly. If not for the groundwork laid by the other films, it would’ve scored lower for sure.

Compared to the original this was pretty mid. Definitely not terrible however. Felt watered down. The cg looked bad which negatively impacted the feel and the intensity of the thing. The characters were also stupid except the mc which was frustrating to watch. Very weak remake.

7/10

If you're watching it without ever watching the “original”it might be an ok film. The characters are too knowledgeable about an alien they have just discovered, lol. Also, they certainly couldn't compete with Garry's fabulous eyebrows; they had already lost in the first place.

Probably my fav remake of a horror ever.

(Re watch)

10/10 ⭐️

Not as good as the original obviously but good in my opinion, fun to see how it sets up the original

Original is better but still not bad

FOR FUCKS SAKE I THOUGHT I WAS WATCHING THE ORIGINAL AND I THOUGHT IT LOOKED WAY TOO HQ FOR 1982 AND THEN I RECOGNIZED RAMONA FLOWERS I’M SOOO MAAAAAAD 😭😭😭 FUCK I HATE REMAKES THAT HAVE THE SAME NAMES JUST WHYY

Really hated this whole entire movie.

One of the better horror remakes in the string of them from the 2000s to early 2010s. Evokes the original way too often while simultaneously not being nearly as good. Pretty good characters and performances, cinematography, AWFUL AWFUL effects esp against the pristine OG

9/10 it’s just as good as the original for me. The suspense and the gore. And the freaky alien design. The never knowing who is who or what.

the lack of practical effects is a let down
