The Thing

just amazing… probably the most insanely good monster/gore effects i’ve ever seen, every single moment was captivating and it kept you double and triple guessing the meaning and motivation behind everything the characters said and did, such a good movie

The fact I was physically repulsed by the gruesome practical effects, just tells you everything you need to know. I went into this film completely and metaphorically blind, which is 100% recommended. stared it down while clenching my little cheeks and walked out feeling both insanely grateful yet horrified to have eyesight. The oozing tension from the dialogue and plot that continually grew from beginning to end was beautiful. It's hard to make a remake of a remake when the creativity and quality in designs and other 'things' is so good it feels illegal. Also, Kurt Russell.

Holy shit. This might be genuine perfection. The writing, story, characters, VISUALSSS, SPECIAL EFFECTS, the absolutely nauseatingly tense atmosphere throughout the entire film, with REAL SCARES! This is seriously one of the best classic horror movies I’ve seen, or movies period.

Great movie! Definitely see where it inspired other movies.

i can admit it’s a good movie without it being a movie for me. the atmosphere, paranoia, and constant feeling that no one can be trusted are all done incredibly well, but i never fully connected with the story the way i wanted to.
