The special effects were groundbreaking, and very cool made (not in all scenes) but the story felt plain. It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. I liked the bits of effects and cool achievements they made with this movie for SciFi. But I wouldn’t watch it a second time.

The Terminator is a straight-up classic. It’s got that dark, gritty vibe with a simple but crazy storyline about a killer robot sent from the future. Arnold Schwarzenegger is cold as hell in this, barely talks but still steals every scene.

Nowhere near as great as the sequel and the story is quite a sludge to get through

You forget the age of the film and the aging effects (groundbreaking at the time) and focus on the film itself. It’s action packed genre defining and entertaining. Loved it growing up and loved it now

You almost forget the film’s flaws - like the cartoony look of the war-ravaged future. Forget that the premise is silly and the acting second-rate because director James Cameron has the action formula down pat.

I’ve had jack-o-lanterns give better performances than half this cast did, (Reese). Reminds me of Birdemic. Not just a “product of its time”. Hate the audio way too quiet and muffled. How’s he the dad? Visuals are bad, android looked like shit, and this is post C3-P0.

Words can't explain how much I love this franchise or even the mind of James Cameron. Everything from the directing to the production to the lore to the execution to the score to the experimenting to the casting to the characters to the dialogue to the catchphrases to the acting to the designs to the colours to the brutality to the pacing to the set pieces to the car chases to the humour to the horror to the romance to the sci-fi to the themes... I have no other word than 'iconic'. I honestly think my love for cinema spawned from this film. My dad probably shouldn't have let me watch this as a child, but I'm so thankful he did.

Crazy how this was James Cameron’s directorial debut

A movie that was extremely ahead of its time. It’s so cool how the figure out how to make it look futuristic in the 80s and do a pretty good job. Awesome plot, great characters and lots of action.

not bad at all, first time watching the terminator universe and im hooked.

arnold walking with his dick out was definitely not on my bingo card.

idk why but the quality of this film was so ahead of its time. yes the cgi looks dogshit rn, but back in 84’ it was like the holy grail.

lowkey was on the edge of my seat towards the end of the film.

what a classic, very excited to see where this goes.

It’s a phenomenal film in it’s own right much more of an action than a horror. It feels incredibly modern the ending is a chefs kiss and I’m is hyped for the sequel 9.4/10 action packed fun time for everyone
