The only reason why I don’t LOVE this movie is because of how uncomfortable it made me. Matt Damon does good with his split personalities and it makes for a gripping watch. This movie is tough to watch but pretty good ngl!

I liked it, but it gave me so much anxiety that still to this days I have difficulties to watch Matt Damon in movies or interviews.
That’s a good thing because it means that his interpretation was GOLD.
So good job Matt, I couldn’t sleep for a week but it was worth it.

The Talented Mr. Ripley
A film with a phenomenal cast whose performances are exceptional from beginning to end, this only enhances the already riveting story. This film has perfect pacing to the point where all of a sudden I found it to be over. Matt Damon displays Tom Ripley’s coldness amazingly.

This movie is crazy, but at the same time, it's creepy, and the actors are very good. The plot and the way the movie progresses leave you crazier and crazier, and how it all ends it's creepy.
Jude Law and Matt Damon look very young and handsome!

This movie pulled so many 180s on me, but I loved every part of it. All the characters are mysterious in their own ways which makes watching the story unfold intriguing.

I always forget that The Talented Mr. Ripley isn’t actually one of my favorites until I rewatch it. On paper, it should be everything, and the cast alone is absurd: Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jack Davenport. Just an embarrassment of talent.
Matt Damon is incredible here. Every move Ripley makes feels calculated, observed, and terrifyingly deliberate. You can watch him taking in every tiny detail; mannerisms, signatures, desire, identity and storing it all away. His feelings for Dickie are painfully clear, which makes the whole performance even more unsettling.
What lingers most is the devastation. Dickie leaves damage behind him, and Ripley takes that grief, trauma, and sadness and somehow deepens it. The emotional wreckage in this film is brutal.
That said, I hate what they do with Marge, making her feel like just another “hysterical woman” no one wants to believe. And I’ve never liked the ending either. I know it’s bleak on purpose, but it’s always left me feeling more cold than moved.
So no, not a favorite, but still a beautifully acted, psychologically sharp spiral of obsession and destruction.

The gay Mr Ripley. Frankly. He could never get away with all that in these days because of cellphones and that’s what’s wrong with the world. Also I now finally see why people called Saltburn a terrible rip off of this movie. Cause it’s literally the plot of the first half almost to a T.

10/10 I am a sucker for psychological thrillers and this is such a good movie. Bought it on DVD and didn’t disappoint, loved every second of it. Matt Damon did a amazing job, his acting made me so uncomfortable, never knew what Ripley would do next.

this was so good. it was like an earlier set saltburn but with better, more coincidental everything. it started off quickly and the first hour or so is calm and shows off italy then it all goes spiralling around which manages to also maintain the tension throughout

By the meh I mean that the plot and the whole story in general terms was very good, well developed.
However, the amount of those ‘tension scenes’ between Ripley and some other dude made the movie a bit hard to follow. Those scenes gave a humor or strange continuity to the film..

this is one of the gayest movies ive ever seen and i love it lol
is there misogyny? yes, but its used as a plot device instead of being an unspoken accepted thing, so its not insufferable
so insane and watching Tom devolve had me biting my nails the entire second half of the film
