I threw this on to see if the plot translates to a real historical story. I like this; a cheesy sword-and-sandals ride ignoring history for fun early-2000s action.

The Director's Eye (What Worked):
• Johnson’s charisma effortlessly carries his first lead role.
• The explosive palace finale is dumb, loud fun giving me action vibes.
• Kelly Hu honestly grounds the sillier moments for me.

The Friction (What Didn't Click for Me):
• The sandstorm cave CGI looks dated and pulled me out.
• Modern aesthetics in ancient Egypt broke my immersion.

The Verdict:
I like it. Watch for nostalgic action. Skip if you need to watch a historically accurate film.

I don't care what people think. This is a classic to me. this movie was so iconic when I was a child.
Re-watched today, definitely there's things that haven't aged so well, but it's a fun watch still.

Loved that movie. Especially the Rock in it. He did great job and he was funny too. Amazing

A forgettable action film that unfortunately doesn’t have fun with its own stupidity. It lacks banter and spirit like The Mummy films. Rock’s character isn’t bad though and he’s surprisingly charismatic.

amazing, entertaining cornerstone of my childhood lol, definitely never realized how bad the cgi was in all these movies but i still love them every thing after this movie is unnecessary and unwatchable tho…

Having never seen this it was still somehow nostalgic. They don’t make films with this vibe anymore. poor sorceress didn’t get much in the way of clothes though
