This was so much better than I expected! I thought this whole movie was just gonna be arguing and anger and frustration and it really wasn’t that. You got to learn about both of them and see how they both feel and why it got to the point that it did and I appreciate it that.

If the original 1989 film made me reconsider getting married, then this version sealed the deal. Still just as bitter, mean-spirited and resentful, with an extra dash of passive aggression.

I was looking forward to this, more so because my dad admitted crying to it in the heat of an argument, and all I have to say to that is the man has problems. The story is brilliant, especially as it delves deeper into the marriage. Unfortunately, a lot of it does fall flat for me. The acting and casting seem monotone and stiff, which is strange as there's more than a fair amount of talent involved. The continuity feels rushed and the editing choppy. That said, the humour works for the most part, and the soundtrack bangs. Also, I enjoyed how dissimilar the narrative is compared to the typical careless working dad/stressed-out homemaker mum/screwed-up rebellious kids.
