❤️ Another excellent Odysseus. This takes place just in Ithaca, with much of a drama or serious tones, dialogues well written and less gimmick of modern scenography and styles. Simpler times

Mistakes watching this after the odyssey. I do like the unique perspective.

One of the greatest things to do is being able to analyze the directorial choices made in the same story, and realizing that we're all different and therefore no work is ever the same, this one in particular is even more raw with less dramatization and nevertheless a great piece!

It was slow start but made so much sense, I really liked this one especially because I’ve read books about Odyssey

The entire movie I was just saying Odysseus quit being a chach. Go home dude. I know this is a rendition of something I haven’t read and if it’s the ending of the odyssey I have just forgotten then. so I cannot rate it fairly with that in mind. However it was a very slow burn movie, satisfying ending/climax. It’s nice to see these old stories redone today without some modern “twist” on it, or atleast I assume. No doubt they likely omitted some details tho.

The Return
It was pretty slow. For those who enjoyed the full story it makes sense, but for those coming into it, it’s just a whiny son and woman who takes forever to make a decision about anything

Watching this brought back memories of the episode of wishbone where they told this story 🐶🤣

Taking a slower, more Shakespearean approach to the tale of Odysseus’ return, this film contains a simmering anger behind it. Driving the narrative forward with a contemplative skew on themes of revenge, war and honor while the grounded nature lends itself to richer development.

The cinematography is unbelievable, but it's still not enough to make me 'return'. Overall, it feels like what it is. A 70s-style Italian cinema piece with a few modern iterations and a crazy good camera. The story and pace definitely and deliberately make you wait, centring you between so many strong characters. Top on characterisation, low on satisfaction. I kept waiting for it to break out the visual language, but the 2hrs ended in frustration for more. The cast won me over but to have 'Fiennes' and 'Binoche' and still feel underwhelming? You sense the obvious dedication but it barely reaches a satisfying enough level. It just makes me anticipate Nolan's rendition of 'Odysseus' even more.

Focused on the latter half of the Odyssey, main two leads are great, everything else is okay but too slow
