a stunning tragedy with such extraordinary writing and talent. one of my favorite films. a story that everyone should know!

I was leaning towards a 7/10 cause when Vicky's character got the love interest, it kinda got boring. But I'll give it an extra point because I don't give a shit about ballet dancing, but the Red Shoes play was incredible, and I never thought I would say that. Plus, it's a film from 1948, and for it to look that good is insane.

"You cannot have it both ways. A dancer who relies upon the doubtful comforts of human love can never be a great dancer. Never."

once you get through the very beginning it begins to become interesting, Loved the cinematography the colors are amazing, the ballet dancing was gorgeous, i was interested in the characters as well, it intrigued me that Lermontov felt love or life got in the way of art/dance

amazing setup beautiful choreography and costumes and cinematography some of which blew me away and then the ending dropped the ball majorly for me but thats how it would be for a modern audience, back then it wouldve gone crazy
