I guessed the “secret” as soon as the affair began. Kinda weird that she’s more ashamed about being illiterate than killing Jews. Empathy for a Nazi who isnt remorseful = 🤮. I also found the intimate scenes disgusting, given that one of the characters was portrayed as a minor…

This does not deserve to call itself a “romance”

why did we have to watch this in class?

An amazing movie that challenges norms and results in a surplus of philosophical criticism. For what little screen time he has comparatively with the younger version of his character, Ralph Fiennes (along with Winslet) gives a phenomenal performance. So did Kross, though they turned him into Heath Ledger halfway through and thought we wouldn’t notice.

Interesting early romance story. Pretty one dimensional in the first half but really weaves a web in the second half.

MY FAV MOVIE😵…..

Films that have large age gaps need to do a thoughtful job justifying them, and although this does not do the best job of it, the rest of the story is rather incredible, helping pick up the film from its rather glaring problem

a very well done, beautiful and greatly layered and complexed film. the sex scenes at the begging were hard to get used to but the rest of the movie is so very well done.

It was one of the best movies I've ever seen.
