It’s brings a very good view of toxic masculinity and hiding your true self. Benedict Cumberbatch does an outstanding job portraying a closeted man while trying to stay on top. Truly loved this film & respect to its director.

Again, I wish for a “meh” button, because while there were some thought provoking surface level ideals, a lot of this movie felt dull and pretentious, to a guy who loves the slow and ambiguous. It’s technically great, but for a movie that sounds perfect for me, it really bored me

Slow but intriguing drama that had a quite interesting and not as usual western story in anyway.

Die Hintergründe, die man aus diesem Film gewinnen kann, sind sicherlich wertvoll.
Aber fehlt für den eigentlichen Film einfach der komplette Handlungsstrang. Alles ist super random.
Filmisch, musikalisch top.
Aber wirklich keinen Wert zum erneut gucken.

A masterclass in tension. While Phil is terrifying, my heart broke for Rose. I felt so incredibly sorry for Kirsten Dunst’s character - her descent into alcoholism under his psychological warfare was devastating. A brutal look at isolation.

Good movie

There are no dialogues silent film that the cinematic direction intercedes for him

Although beautifully shot, I didn’t connect with any of the characters. Plemons felt underutilized and I didn’t like the Phil character.

Great movie! Amazing cinematography

Cumberbatch gives an amazing lead performance. His despicable behavior doesn't become understandable until the last act, but the development is great. Smit-McPhee shows he is one of the more underlooked younger actors right now. Great cinematography and great directing.
