I don’t think I’ve ever cried this hard watching something. Like legitimately cried to the point that it gave me a headache. How can you not when you’re seeing a little boy screaming that someone shot his mother? When he says he’s not hurt but his heart is broken. These kids clinging onto the hope that their mother will pull through just for her to not. And I knew she wasn’t going to but I still sobbed so hard when they said as much while breaking this news to the father of her children who becomes inconsolable.

I still can’t make sense of the fact that this happened. And I had never heard of this up until this point. The amount of anger to see this lady repeatedly lie and victimize herself while she harassed, antagonized, and threatened this entire community. And yeah, I’m glad shes gonna rot in prison but that’s not going to bring Ajike Owens back. Four beautiful children will never see their mother again and I know it eats her oldest sons alive feeling like it was their fault she’s gone. I can only hope those babies get the love and guidance they need and can somehow reconcile with that sort of loss and know it’s not their fault.

My heart breaks for those kids. Like the pastor said towards the end that the mom was standing up for her kids, I hope those kids know it’s not their fault and that she was fighting for them and that the are able to grow up and see just how much she loves them.

Short & real. No questioning. No both sides-ing. Not over sensationalized & overproduced, but real, human, & crushing.

The slow & steady way this unfolds, without ever wavering on who is in the wrong here was incredibly done. You see it coming, but when it happens it still hits like a ton of bricks.

I remember just a little about this happening in real time, but the rate our news cycle moves now, it’s sad how quickly it was forgotten or not even covered. Stand your ground laws are dangerous & come with all kinds of racial inequities that lead to too many horrible stories like this one.

Loved the way this story was told solely through actual footage. So heartbreaking but I’m glad there was some justice for the family.

I liked how it was a completely unbiased documentary. Hard watch. Don't watch if you are having a tough day. It will make it so much worse.

This is such a sad and tough watch. It’s hard to believe there’s people out there like this. I went into this blind, not knowing anything and I think that’s the way you really should do this.
