This is like the absolute banger of silent movies.
The level of excellence in the camera work/lighting/background music/editing/is unbelievable, especially having been produced 100 years ago!
Not to mention the several attempts to destroy it.
Definitely top 15 best performances.

This movie is amazing! The performance of Maria Falconetti is incredible! You feel how Joan of Arc suffered and feel trapped during her trial. Maria really was magnificent.
It’s more incredible when you know the story behind this movie (has been burned several times).

As someone who is not religious, I strongly disliked this movie. The entire thing just seemed whimsical and insincere, mostly due to the constant expressions on Joan’s face. This felt like reading a book with pictures while dramatic music played in the background. Silent age👎

Magnificently shot and edited, The Passion of Joan of Arc deserves its reputation as one of the most moving and heartbreaking films of all time. This film elicits such empathy through its striking imagery and powerful performances that you’re left breathless and in tears. 9/10

As I write this letter tears have been coming down my eyes mostly because of what I could absorb from this amazing portrait which was directed with such delicacy and so naturally, my only wish was to make this a 3 hour work so I could've enjoyed that perfect choice of Music!!

an absolute classic title of the silent era, and possibly my favorite from the period as well. perfectly shot, edited, and acted; one-time legend renee falconetti delivers one of the greatest performances of all time. timeless

I've only seen a few silent films, and this one so far is the best. No sound, but I felt the intensity just by the performances.

watched a screening of this movie with live music. crazy and amazing. incredible cinematography and cast.

Masterpiece

This was one of the most moving films I’ve ever seen. The acting truly transported me to the moment they were depicting. Amazing how such an early film can standout as one of the highest points in the medium to this day with none of the spectacle and technological advances.
