Bale delivers as always. He continues to cement himself as an all time great. The actor that portrays Poe was also very good. Interesting story and took an unexpected twist at the end. Would recommend. Re-watchability might not be too high however

- Nah Poe was tweaking for trying to save Leah after he literally tried to kill him
- I don’t blame Landor at all for doing what he did and if it was me all hell would’ve broken loose on those bts

Solid movie but nothing crazy

I had no idea what this story was going to be and was so surprised by how much I enjoyed it. What a well done film! Harry Melling was absolutely fantastic! I honestly want to be friends with Edgar. The movie is filled with gorgeous shots, a soundtrack that really fits, and incredible costumes that add so much to the feel of it. Some of the lines stuck with me:

“Books!” … “You have never interested me more.”

“Before I let him come between me and my heart’s desire, I will kill him.”

“We might have become a family indeed.” 😭

It’s wild this has been out a couple of years and I only just watched it.

If you love Christian bale movies - more the prestige versus the Batman - you will like this one.

Kinda slowburn but the plot twist is worth it

A little slow. Bale is amazing as always, as is Edgar Poes character. Solid watch

big poe fan but i hated the ending it was a big plot twist but didn’t feel right for the story there needed to be more buildup or dramatics or something

I had a hard time keeping up with the characters at first but then it got easier as the movie went on. It was interesting because at first I thought it had ended and was very predictable about what happened but then once the real plot twist can in it was crazy!

I enjoyed this more than I anticipated and it ended up being more tragic than I expected. Definitely some triggers to watch out for with this one though.

Amazing actors Bale and Melling. Great story with a wild and sorta unexpected ending. Love , love, love.

Couple of cool dudes just hanging out in the woods. I was able to solve the mystery on my own though.

i love edgar allen poe but unfortunately this piece of historical fiction lacks a sort of energy it desperately needs to tie in an appropriate atmosphere for the story they are attempting to tell

Christian Bale is one of the greatest actors of his generation and with every new role he takes, he finds a way to further heighten his pedestal. He is fantastic in every genre.

Good. A lot of surprises but not the greatest movie I’ve ever seen

a gut wrenching finale with a kind message. if you like mysteries, drama and a quite dark aesthetic, this is for you

Intense mystery thriller which had a killer twist at the end. Carried by its well written story and acted by one of our best actors ever Christian Bale and by no surprise gave a extraordinary performance.

A dark film visually reminding of Burton's work like Sleepy Hollow or Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. At the same time, there is a plot twist, which I like. So if you like movies with this vibe go ahead and check this movie.
