The Old Guard 2 is a disappointing sequel (4.6/10) that misunderstands what made the original special. The film trades thoughtful character drama for a convoluted, noisy, and soulless action plot.

• Underdeveloped characters: Veronica Ngô's Quỳnh is reduced to a one-dimensional villain, and new additions feel like hollow setups for future spin-offs.
• Poor direction: Victoria Mahoney's direction lacks the intimate, character-focused touch of the original, with frantic and less impactful action sequences.

The Verdict: The Old Guard 2 is a baffling and unnecessary sequel that squanders the goodwill of the original. It's a generic and forgettable action movie that's only recommended for dedicated completionists of the franchise.

I was so excited for this sequel because I loved the first one so much, but this one was both very shocking and lacking for me. I think the elements and characters added were interesting, but I think the pacing and character interactions were throwing me off. The cliffhanger ending was a surprise, but it makes sense with the shorter runtime, so I'm hoping this means we are definitely getting a third one.

You’ve got to be shitting me… that was such a fuck ass cliffhanger 💀 i wish the story was more focus on quynhs return and less about this new Mf discord tf type name is that. I love the action and violence but i fear the plot was lacking a bit like i needed more…something idk lol

I so badly wanted to enjoy this but it’s clearly a filler movie setting up the third instalment (that will never happen) - lots of cars, guns and killing but it’s missing the core that had me captivated in movie 1, the lore. Such a shame.

How do you cast Uma Thurman and still completely fumble nearly every aspect of the film? Not to mention Charlize herself, who I want to see direct her own action film. I don't even know where to begin. The stunt work was insane, but it heavily overpowered the story... and not in a good way. Unanchored characters, underdeveloped writing, unrealistic directions, unfinshed story, and a whole lot of unbeneficial minute-long staring competitions. I didn't like the generic soundtrack either, or most of the production, as it felt cheap rather than smart, except when they trashed expensive cars. I did like the experimental camerawork, but all in all, I'm shockingly disappointed.

The Old Guard shoehorns in a legend about Nile stripping immortality and it’s a mess. Who wrote it if immortals are secret? Hurt someone & they might give it up by willing it in a short window? No logic. Rich lore treated cheap—just to revive one, drop another, and move the plot.

Honestly don’t really know what was going on but I still liked it 🤷🏼‍♀️

This movie had so many plot holes, and the way they just almost completely overlooked trauma, if I ever watch The third movie it will not be because of my own will. Brooker did look a lot like Dean O'Gorman in this movie and I was loving it, that was the only thing I liked really

this wasn’t bad but it definitely didn’t beat the first one at all the cliffhanger tho definitely means another movie. The family aspect from the first one was definitely missed still love Nicky and Joe my favorite old gay couple

I fell asleep. Not nearly as interesting as the first one.

the first one gave me such interest in the story behind the guards, this one i could not keep attention on unfortunate.

Stiff acting, shoddy writing, uninteresting plot. Boring compared to the first one

Not as good as the first installment but not understanding all the hate towards it. Yeah there’s some plot holes but the story is good and it continues to unfold the lore, yes, questions still abound but it’s not a bad sequel. I do hope the finish the story…even if it is in 2065.
