The Old Guard 2

I was so excited for this sequel because I loved the first one so much, but this one was both very shocking and lacking for me. I think the elements and characters added were interesting, but I think the pacing and character interactions were throwing me off. The cliffhanger ending was a surprise, but it makes sense with the shorter runtime, so I'm hoping this means we are definitely getting a third one.

The Old Guard 2 is a disappointing sequel (4.6/10) that misunderstands what made the original special. The film trades thoughtful character drama for a convoluted, noisy, and soulless action plot.

The Good:

• Returning cast: The cast still has fantastic chemistry, but they're given little to do in terms of meaningful development.

The Not So Good:

• Weak script: The story is messy, unfocused, and predictable, abandoning the grounded, character-driven mystery of the original.
• Underdeveloped characters: Veronica Ngô's Quỳnh is reduced to a one-dimensional villain, and new additions feel like hollow setups for future spin-offs.
• Poor direction: Victoria Mahoney's direction lacks the intimate, character-focused touch of the original, with frantic and less impactful action sequences.

The Verdict: The Old Guard 2 is a baffling and unnecessary sequel that squanders the goodwill of the original. It's a generic and forgettable action movie that's only recommended for dedicated completionists of the franchise.

I was very excited for this second movie but i’m not happy that it’s been stretched to now a 3rd movie

I loved the first and loved this one too. Cannot wait the third.
