It's like an introductory movie for the character of the Joker, I recommend watching it and then watching the Joker 7,8/10

This used to be a like for me, now it’s a love. 2 of the greatest performances ever from Phoenix and Hoffman. Upon review you have to ask yourself “What happened?” And it may lead you to ask “Why am I still thinking about it?” That’s what it was for me. This has stayed in my head

Incredible cast, loosely based on Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard…I really wanted to like it. But idk it just wasn’t for me. It was one of those movies where all the critics say it’s brilliant and I just don’t get it. 🤷🏻♂️

On my fourth go-around with The Master, I had a moment where I thought, “You know what? I’m finally going to recommend this to my friends.” And then, five minutes in, Joaquin Phoenix is aggressively beating it on the beach like it’s a deleted scene from Cast Away and I thought, Never mind. This movie is brilliant, disturbing, and weirdly elegant in its chaos. I love it more every time, which is probably a red flag. It’s like a dream powered by fermented paint thinner and unprocessed trauma. 10/10, but I’ll be enjoying it in silence so no one asks me, ‘So what’s it about?’

One of those films that I respect but did not enjoy. The acting is terrific, with Hoffman’s character being magnetic, but Freddie was one of the most unlikeable protagonists I’ve seen. Ultimately, the story feels inconsequential and unsatisfying.
