The Lighthouse Reviews

I wrote a 10 page essay on this film in which I explored its mise-en-scene, productions behind-the-scenes, and it’s derived story and deeper themes. I had to have watched this movie through at least 10 times in a week. I think I’m obligated to rank it higher because of this fact.

Two men fart and squabble in a lighthouse.

A film student’s wet dream.

sometimes i also masturbate to wood carvings of boobs

Maybe🤷‍♂️ (What. The. Fuck. Just. Happened.)

Yeah people who say that they “like” or “love” this movie want to come off like they’re some film connoisseur. You’re not. And it wasn’t a good movie

Fort nite 😂😂😂😂

This movie is visually stunning, and the cast and acting is amazing, but it is the slowest movie I’ve ever seen. And i didn’t really get the story.

It’s the perfect film school movie as nothing makes sense unless you take a deep dive, the acting is amazing from both Robert and Will making it very rewatch able. However this is one of the few I can name as not for everyone, it’s a great watch just not an enjoyable one. 8.5/10

Amazing cinematography/lighting honestly it should've won the Oscar over "1917".
Loved the soundtrack too kinda reminded me of The Lobester but 10 times better.
Also someone pls tell me where is Willem's Oscar 🙄.
And thank god Robert explained the movie in the interviews.

Greta Gerwig, Edgar Wright, and Robert Eggers are going to have to fight for which one receives all my love

It was confusing and pretty bizarre at times, But actually quite meaningful especially toward the end.
the acting is amazing (WOW) and the whole creepy vibe makes it dang good and solid movie to watch.

Walked in on a friend watching this at like 3am and was a trip

the lighting and coloring in this movie was so fucking good also like so odd and interesting feel like i need to watch a youtube video explanation but i think i have an idea

i think they like-like each other
(this movie is very weird but good)
the acting is incredible and i love the cinematography

A rich and strange sea yarn in monochrome that overflows with Beckettian absurdity, as this men wait for relief.

I could rave about this movie for an hour. It’s so smart and fun and stupid and profound. The blend of eldritch horror with deep questions of what a man has, is, deserves makes this feel like the modern Lovecraftian horror show it is. It pulls elements from Greek comedy and reaches deep inside you to pull out the things you don’t want to think about, then shows it to you right up close. Begs for a rewatch. And another.

what the hell.

absolutely loved how well written the dialogue was, but i can’t lie & say i overall liked this, I like that it’s basically about how disgusting men are& will become when left to isolation & i will say this really did leave me filled with disgust & fear which i think is the point
