Ice Road: Vengeance

I love Liam Neeson and I don’t need a whole lot from him but this was beneath him. Cheesy acting, fight scenes with 20 year olds, terrible cgi and what was that ending? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ice Road: Vengeance

Rating: 4/10 ⭐️

I hoped for a fun Liam Neeson sequel, but it honestly felt like a massive step down from the first one.

What Worked:
Stern’s cinematography captures the terrifying scale of the mountain passes, giving the wide shots a rugged texture. The cramped bus setting made the hand-to-hand combat feel super tight and gritty. Through my Methodist faith lens, watching Mike process survivor’s guilt to honor his brother beautifully mirrors my beliefs about finding grace and healing after loss.

The Cuts:
The middle part really dragged for me with a convoluted corporate dam subplot that cluttered the story. Keeping it spoiler-free, the villains are super cartoonish, which totally took me out of the tension. Also, it feels incredibly repetitive, trading ice roads for a dusty pass but keeping the exact same story beats.

Verdict:
A predictable sequel that loses its way. An okay background watch to see Neeson beat up bad guys, but skip if you want a fresh story.

Favorite Line: “Life is for the living.”

CGI was terrible and dramatic for sure. Time jumps were horrible too tbh. Action was intense and I liked that, but acting from others was so mid too.
