The Great Dictator

One of Charles Chaplin's masterpieces, and the human historical discourse in the end is the most wonderful thing in the movie. 9/10

Like all major Chaplin works, Dictator was a cheaply, but methodically, made film, a cardboard act of humanist defiance, and, thanks to its purity of purpose, the cheesier the jokes get, the harder they land.

Watched this for a college film class. While it isn’t my usual cup of tea, the comedy was fun and cheeky. Obviously this carries a much darker and thought provoking truth. Definitely a classic.

It was fun! Took me a while to understand both characters were different but it was really nice!

I’m sure for its time, it was stellar but I couldn’t get into it. Had a few chuckles, fell asleep, woke up towards the end with no desire to go back or finish it. Sorry not sorry.
