The Girl Next Door
Wow that was an hour of my life I will never get back. This isn’t a psychological horror, it’s just child torture. Kids should NOT be having to play these roles, kids should not be acting out a violet abuse scene. Tw for literally everything. Disgusting movie, don’t waste yourtim

The Girl Next Door
I didn’t actually like like it. I mean the movie was “good” but it was like super unsettling and messed up and the fact it was based off a true story? like my jaw was open the whole time. It’s very messed up and sad. If you want to watch it go ahead but read the warnings.

The Girl Next Door
Rating: 6.2/10
The Girl Next Door is a powerful, well-acted, and disturbing psychological horror film based on a true crime. The film creates a sense of suffocating dread, but its relentless nihilism and graphic depiction of torture make it a punishing viewing experience.
Highlights
- Phenomenal Performances: Blythe Auffarth and Blanche Baker deliver brave and terrifying performances as the victim and abuser.
- Raw Direction: The direction is unflinching and effectively creates a palpable atmosphere of dread and claustrophobia.
- Important Themes: The film explores the banality of evil, mob mentality, and the failure of a community to intervene.
Criticisms
- Unbearable Grimness: The film is an almost unbearably grim and nihilistic experience from start to finish.
- Frustrating Protagonist: The protagonist and narrator, David, is frustratingly passive for most of the film.
- Clunky Framing Device: The framing device of the adult David feels clunky and unnecessary.
Verdict
The Girl Next Door is a harrowing piece of horror filmmaking that's almost impossible to recommend due to its soul-crushing bleakness and unflinching depiction of cruelty. It's a powerful and well-acted film, but only suitable for hardened fans of extreme horror.
