The French Connection
Didn’t finish.
Excruciatingly boring, therefore very difficult to pay attention to the plot points. I got nothing out of this experience.
Very pretty still-shots, but I don’t like the shaky filming.
Scenes are all 10 minutes longer than they need to be, holy hell.

Classic action thriller, don’t need any of this character development bs. Show that hat in the car rear window all you want, hell yea.

If there was another level between “like” and “meh”, that would be it. The plot was great I can’t lie, but the chasing scenes were too much for me.

Man, Gene Hackman was so cool. Every role he took on just feels so authentic and believable - such a convincing actor. I’m playing catch up on a few Best Picture winners, I knew The French Connection has been held to a pretty high regard over time - and now I hold it to that level too.
That whole tram/car chase sequence was nuts, I have no clue how they were able to pull it off convincingly with the equipment at the time. Easily one of the standout sequences in an already great movie.
I’d say a very with winner of the Best Picture accolade, looking forward to checking out the sequel, although I know that’s where it goes rogue an away from the true story.

My Rating: 7/10
Nominated for 8 Oscar’s and won 5. I enjoyed this film and how can you not love the car chase/train scene? Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider give excellent performances and I was entertained.

I didn't quite catch on to the absolute "classic" status of this when I watched it (as a whole, OR of the famed car chase), but it was good.

I don’t fully know what happened in this film. Never grabbed my attention it was ok. It was also so quiet so I struggled to hear what was going on.

When push comes to shove, will you stare Popeye in the eye with full disdain? Or will you love every incredible shot of him looking so cool that it’s almost unfair?

Timeless and well directed classic with a talented cast. Rip to the phenomenal Gene Hackman one of our greatest actors and in this film he gives one of his best performances.

Greedy 70 New York. Hackman and Scheider great. Dated but holds up for an old guy.
