The Electric State Review: A Visually Stunning but Narratively Flawed Adventure

Hey friends! I just watched the highly anticipated 2025 sci-fi action-adventure film, The Electric State, directed by the Russo brothers. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, and Ke Huy Quan, among others. The visual effects are stunning, with a unique blend of retro-futurism and dystopian landscapes.

However, the narrative falls flat. The storytelling feels disjointed, with underdeveloped characters and a convoluted plot. Despite the talented cast, their characters lack depth and motivation.

The pacing is also uneven, with long stretches of exposition that slow down the momentum. The action sequences, while visually impressive, feel overly reliant on CGI.

It's clear that the Russo brothers aimed to create a thought-provoking, visually stunning film. Unfortunately, The Electric State feels like a missed opportunity.

Overall, I'd give The Electric State 5.1/10. While it's a visually impressive film, its narrative flaws hold it back from reaching its full potential.

The russo brothers can make good movies, but when they are tasked with making something family friendly its like a copy paste disney marvel slop fest of quips and gotcha one liners.

I genuinely hated every part of the movie that just couldn’t take it seriously, not every modern movie needs a quipster one liner badass.

Infinity war was fantastic with the way it balanced the humor with the seriousness — how did they lose this balance?

The movie isn’t terrible and visually it’s pretty good for something Netflix churned out but for the love of god can we stop with the marvel quipster bullshit character personalities and dialogue.

Overall it’s fun but just a bit eye-roll inducing with some of the choices and dialogue.

It was entertaining. I liked the concept of the robot human coexistence, and a war man vs machine.

Nearly impossible to watch. Lots of money was spent on this nonsense, yet hair and makeup couldn’t mask Pratt’s receding hairline? And, BTW, he is hands down the worst of the Hollywood Chrises!

solid 6.5/10, i’m not really a fan of either millie bobby brown or chris pratt but it did bring a tear to my eye
