Whew. This was a lot. I can’t say I really enjoyed it but I can say I really appreciated the absolutely stellar performances (Plaschg and the young boy) and the score. The pacing was a little off to me, feeling quite slow. But the moments that went hard, went so hard. Overall just a really bleak and sad look at life in the 18th century, and quite a pointed look at religion as well.

I just found it very slow and too long

Slow burn for sure, which normally I am not a big fan of, but something about this movie was so captivating. It's a beautiful period piece based in reality rather than the supernatural, focusing on the slow but agonizing decline of the main character's mental health. High rec 👍

This one was crazy and loosely based on real events. All I can say is if you wanna fall into a depression watch this.

This movie is scarier when you think about how these events happened to people. I haven’t heard of how they treated depressed women in 1790’s Austria, but now it’s haunting me…

Slow burn

I saw a TikTok about this movie and have been waiting to watch it. I was hooked and baffled all at the same time… like what was I watching but I couldn’t stop. I didn’t even mind the subtitles. The scene at the beginning left my jaw on the floor. I was watching and a little confused about what exactly was happening- like was she crazy, was she possessed, was the new family a cult? but then a few lines of text explaining the lore made everything click. I will 100% be watching again- Shudder has been killing it!
