George Clooney plays the most insufferable guy possible but is still somehow made sympathetic by how much more awful all the other characters are. 7/10

overall enjoyable. brian’s wife was definitely the best character in this whole movie.

also never in my life did i expect to see a george clooney vs matthew lillard debate but alas.

A simple yet heartfelt story about grief, family, and holding onto what’s left when life falls apart. Clooney keeps it grounded, Shailene shines, and nothing feels overdone. Honest, human, and quietly painful, with Hawaii serving as more than just a beautiful backdrop.

I couldn’t properly appreciate this one when I first saw it upon its release in 2011. It’s a very touching and darkly humorous dramedy

I went in with low expectations for this but it was actually a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the story felt like something different and was heartfelt. Performances were done well and was a pleasant enjoyable watch.

definitely one of alexander payne’s weaker films, lead by a group of privileged characters that are hard to root for or feel sympathetic towards. the writing and humor is witty enough, and the hawaiian setting is occasionally quite beautiful. some will love

I’ve watched this a few times now, I really like this movie. Even better after we’ve already been to Oahu Hawaii. Great characters and well written, funny in all the right ways.
