Who would have thought a movie from the 50s would be one of the best movies I’ve watched all summer

Poitier and Curtis shone most in their scenes alone, but none of those would mean anything without the rest of their scenes with the world outside their relationship. It’s a good look at how race impacts your view on the world and on others, and again on how a single relationship can change your view on all of it.

Paved the way for a lot of movies. Not only is it a perfect representation of coming together and also touches on racism, I also believe it paved the way for (slightly if not fully) queer films. I love every bit of it considering it's respectable in itself and worth the watch.
