Matthew and Idris being in a movie like this feels so random idk. I know this is based on a book series but i wish they would’ve explain the lore a bit more and the scope of what Jake could do with his powers. Overall i enjoyed this movie, it met my expectations 👍🏽

Gotta watch the movie after reading these books.

Idris Elba is good, and McConaughey is an enjoyably smug villain. The film moves fast and leans into action more than lore. It’s a decent popcorn fantasy.

After reading the book series, of course the story is summarised and simplified. That's why it should be evaluated as a separate spin-off.
