whilst i enjoyed parts nothing really stuck with me

A fine ‘30s noir. McKellen plays a captivating character in a complex but easy to follow plot. Perhaps the young characters are too good looking but good casting otherwise, Mark Strong plays a fine Vis-Count. The cgi of a view over London could have been better as could the repeated shot of the newspapers building. The corridor to the Vis-Count’s office shot was repeated to great effect. Many subjects were briefly touched on with no shying away from the fascism of the time and antisemitism and racism captured.

I won't lie, it's VERY slow (and I still don't understand why it's classified as a "mistery"), but never mind. The story is interesting, and Ian McKellen is a beast as always. His character is a bit irritating, but somehow it intrigued me.

8/10 very good, liked the story and setting, the film flowed well and end nicely. Well casted and directed. Recommend.

“The fascists may come and go, but theatre is eternal. It matters more than politics. More than society. It’s life itself!!

Quite disappointing. Had a cool premise and had some redeeming qualities like some creative plot-arks and absolutely stunning visuals at times,  but the pacing was horrible, and was overall just really boring and disengaging for the most part.
