A lot depends on the audience. If you give into the world-building, you can have fun with it, otherwise, you might want 'thing 1' and 'thing 2' to ship you across the map. I was practically a baby, stealing my mum's phone to watch this illegally. I would watch it on repeat, hooked on the characters, designs, acting, soundtrack, colours, humour, and of course, Mike Myers. Now that I've finally rewatched it, I realise the adult edge it has and I miss it. They did not care who was offended, as long as it was over-the-top funny. We need an unhinged Mike Myers type performance again.

I remember hearing that this movie is the reason Dr. Seuss books can’t have live-action movies anymore. So fucking funny. Don’t know how this got approved or whatever, but I’m so glad it did.

Never fails to make me laugh. It’s the perfect fever dream, with strangely liminal set design, unforgettable and hilarious characters. It’s also so weird, the characters do such wacky things. There are so many jokes and gags it’s hard to keep up and they be joking about…
