The Aviator

Scorsese gives us a lot more than the Charles Foster Kane of the clouds. He keeps focus on Hughes, the dreamer, who continually reached out, grabbed the future and pulled it toward him.

Great lighting and cinematography from Martin Scorsese, especially in the first scene. Fantastic performance as well from Leo DiCaprio, and a star studded supporting cast.

May easily beat another favorite, Shutter Island.

Hard to believe after 21 years, I was still able to go into this completely blind. I am surprised for a film titled The Aviator it doesn’t even bother to show how he became an aviator! A decent Martin Scorsese picture, but not one I would consider a favorite.
