The Apartment Reviews

just really beautifully made in all ways; it’s writing, acting, humour, cinematography. It captures loneliness so well. And the humour, set-ups and pay-offs just so simple yet unique. One of my favourites ever probably.

Cutest love story, movie aged like fine wine, makes you want to dress like a 1960s office worker and smoke a cigarette on a cold, dreary night alone under a streetlight

NYC apartments haven’t changed

Nearly perfect. Unique yet simple concept. The script is iron clad, with enough out of pocket left turns to keep the audience engaged. Everything happens twice, in the form of effective callbacks.
Reminds us that it really can work out in the end if we stick are good to others.

I’ve seen this movie before and I’ve loved it every time. Baxter is a great representation of how it is to climb the toxic corporate ladder 🤌 The writing, the acting, everything about this movie is beautifully crafted.

plot is basic but it was actually quite good

Absolutely brilliant, movie-wise

I don’t like this man

Wonder how long it takes to get someone you’re stuck on out of your system. If only they’d invent some kind of pump for that.

Ever watch a film so perfect in every way that you adopt it, personalitywise? It’s also hilarious, comedywise.

Interesting look at life and yeah it’s complicated. Characters were great. Weird story line they managed to pull off.

Complicated premise but so happy with the ending.

a bunch of cheaters and one chronic people pleaser trying to survive

Great !

My corny, white ass stood up & applauded while watching this alone in my bedroom

it’s just a comedy with a predictable ending but it was a pleasure to watch
8/10

Good movie

Well, filmwise it was an absolute heartwarming experience, kublikwise my heart is smiling to its content to an amazing third act of so many twists and turns, cookiewise is a film that’s gonna be hard for me to forget!!

Another great film from Billy Wilder, and another Best Picture Winner checked off the list.

The real star here is the screenplay. Single-location films (or at least mostly) are notoriously hard to pull off because the writing has to be sharp and engaging enough to offset the confinement - but Wilder makes it look easy. Just like Some Like It Hot, The Apartment strikes that difficult balance between comedy and drama.

Jack Lemmon is incredible. The comedy is all there on the page for him, but his line delivery is what makes it land so well. Shirley MacLaine is equally as great; they both have such a fantastic screen presence and the “will they, won’t they” dynamic is handled brilliantly.

I was interested from the get-go, but the second half is where the film shines. No character is wasted, and no detail goes unused. Great film.

Awww I love

Fun, classic, comedy of errors with a happy ending- what more could you want?
