So I appreciate that they mentioned that it was "dramatized" and I'm completely aware that things like this could (and have) happened in real life...but HOLY SH*T the producers just had a problem with men, like it wasn't even storytelling just straight up sh*tting on us...

Very enjoyable movie, nice easy watch I would recommend to friends. Lily James is fantastic as always. Dan Stevens accent wasn’t the best 😂I do just love a movie inspired by or based on real events. The panick attack scenes and harassment scenes were very well done

So close to being a solid 7/10. It kept me engaged and sort of informed the whole way through. Plus it acknowledged the simple fact of it being a dramatisation. My biggest criticism of most biopics, including "Swiped", is the level of idealisation given to certain characters. It feels more like publicity than authenticity, which, by the end, does more harm to the retelling as it takes away human flaws from reality. Then again, I can recount Whitney's story through bullet points, and it wouldn't really change much. Although the portrayals of the emotional turmoil through the acting and directing were probably the most memorable scenes. I'd swipe left on biopic and maybe right on filmmaking.

I wish they focused more on the journey of Bumble rather than her years at Tinder. It seemed like the third act was rushed just to get to her big moment but all we got were highlights of Bumble’s success. Still an insane ride for her end up on top and thriving.

What makes this even horrible, is that it actually happened. Her own blind spots, the rise and fall and the comeback, is very well integrated in how it all came to be. Loved that we got to see how the minds behind these apps worked.

It was good. The pacing held up, visuals were sharp, and the performances felt authentic. Some scenes dragged, but overall, it left a strong impression.

I liked the ideas and the entrepreneurial angle, especially how dating apps are portrayed. But as a girl watching, it’s frustrating to see how men often take over in male dominated spaces. Still a relevant and interesting watch.

An interesting story, with good performances, that reflects the mood in the kids 2010s. Lily James did an excellent work carry in the entire movie.

Rating: 5.5/10
A polished but superficial retelling of the modern dating app wars, focusing on a corporate underdog story.
Highlights
- Resilience Story: Whitney's journey from SMU grad to tech CEO is impressive.
- Strong Performances: Lily James and Dan Stevens bring energy to their roles.
- Critique of Hookup Culture: Film critiques degradation in online interactions.
Criticisms
- Lacks Depth: Feels like a made-for-TV movie with a higher budget.
- One-Dimensional Characters: Male characters are written as villains without nuance.
- Pacing Issues: Middle act drags during fallout and legal battles.
Verdict
Swiped is a middling drama interesting for its subject matter, but lacks depth to be a true classic. Champions kindness and respect, but execution is formulaic.

Finished this movie and felt really fulfilled, I understand there’s probably been a lot of dramatisation but for the first time in a long time I felt like I’d watched a movie that I didn’t get bored with halfway through, with characters I really was rooting for!
