Definitely not a bad movie, just very slow. The first half was quite triggering for me personally, while second half was depressing.

Susan sarandon you break my heart

Very sweet and simple. Julia and Susan represented such starkly different personalities and I loved how they came to know each other thru the kids. The shenanigans with the kids and the bittersweet end, all was just plain enjoyable.

The mom was a straight up villain for over half this movie but she came around. Both moms were excellently acted and written - so sympathetic and realistic. And so was Anna who was the most typical 12 yr/o I’ve ever seen

So saaad, I cried a lot, what a great movie

Overall a strong movie but I hope Jena Marone won some sort of young actor’s award for her performance. She did a great job playing the role very subtly. I also like when adults behave like emotionally well-adjusted adults. Even if it took a bit to get there.

Watching it as an adult feels even more heart breaking
