Meryl Streep’s performance saved this film.

THAT was Sophie’s choice? Oh my god I spent my whole life thinking it was a “woman chooses herself instead of either idiot fighting over her” movie but instead I got hit with THAT. And it’s referenced so nonchalantly in pop culture but nooooo it is not what you think. Holy shit.

what a movie!

Like many I agree Meryl Streep is phenomenal here along with her story. Unfortunately you have the two men in this film weighing down the script. Still a solid watch despite Stingo’s unworthy scenes.

I just didn’t get the story…

meryl was phenomenal!!!!!

On my list for a long time. knew about “the scene”, the only interesting character was Sophie, stingo and Nathan was wasted writing. Had to wait an hour to dive into Sophie’s character and “the scene” was a blimp of 10 seconds. Streep was INCREDIBLE

i didn’t really like it and i just thought it was boring.

I see why meryl won best actress for this one. her accent work alone was phenomenal. heartbreaking twist at the end. overall good movie just a little long and can get slow

Meryl did her thing she was spectacular as Sophie. Definitely up there for me when it comes to acting performances and idk much about accents but hers sounded amazing to me. This movie also does a good job of making u care for Sophie and her well-being I loved her so much.
