Awful just awful

One of if not the best video game movie adaptation ever. Mortal Kombat (the original), Uncharted, and it’s sequel are close contenders, but it’s a very good and fun movie!

Using my free time to enjoy things I love, I booted this up for a nostalgic ride. I thought a video game movie would be super cringe, but Sonic’s heart and Carrey’s wild energy completely won me over.

What Worked:
• Schwartz brings a fun, chaotic energy to Sonic that feels super authentic.
• Carrey going fully unhinged as Robotnik gives a top-tier 90s villain vibe I absolutely lived for.
• The buddy-cop dynamic with Tom adds genuine heart to ground the CGI action.

The Friction:
• Blatant product placement felt super forced and pulled me out.
• The middle road-trip part really dragged for me. I honestly just wanted more robot drone dodging.

Verdict:
Watch for a breezy, nostalgic buddy-comedy. Skip if you get bored by predictable family tropes.

The rewatch was needed, this movie gives me good vibes if you get what I mean

it’s so unfunny and sonic is excruciatingly annoying
i watched it for robotnik and agent stone being gay for each other

I thought this was cute. It had its moments but in my opinion the potential was wasted. This wasn’t as good as it could have been. It was basically Hop on steroids. They did my boy Sonic dirty honestly. It was just weird. But I guess I liked it. I had fun watching it with my bf.

I hate the Sonic CGI, he looks so different from what I grew up with. I like Dr. Robotnic and the casting was perfect. I thought that the plot was a little shaky but stayed ok towards the end.

Not great, but it knows exactly what kind of movie and wants to be and delivers that perfectly. My eight year old LOVES this series and by the virtue of the transitive property it gets a thumbs up from me.
