Snow White and the Huntsman
In-between a low-quality script with high-quality visuals. I forgot how good this was because the last time I watched it I was around 9. Don't know much about Snow White but I nearly always look forward to watching adaptations on classic stories. The cast was a plus, Charlize had so much potential if it wasn't for the dialogue. It just didn't pair up with the phenomenal effects. 2 hours wasn't enough either as the characters felt randomly thrown in with no actual connection. Hated the dwarves. I'd say it had everything you want from fantasy but the underdeveloped and rushed script/pacing became too apparent and lost me.

Snow White and the Huntsman
Best Snow White movie by far. The plot, the acting, the romance, and the platonic relationships is what makes this movie. The movie isn’t predictable, so it leaves you in suspense the entire movie. The back stories of the evil queen are amazing as well. I highly recommend this !!

Snow White and the Huntsman
I’ve seen this movie so many times because I’m in love with its well-balanced material.
First off, people complain most about the writing. It has it’s overdramatic moments, but most fantasy lovers have adapted to that.
But the subtly towards an obvious platonic relationship between the huntsman and Snow White is one of my favorite things about this movie. It’s obvious the prince is very husband material for her character, but the love dynamic that builds during the huntsman and Snow’s journey nods at the “true love’s kiss” concept. An intimate moment when he thinks she is gone that still stops before the romantic boundaries.
I feel for Raveena’s anger. Being told since she was young that beauty would save her, she was essentially blessed, or cursed (however you want to look at it), by her own mother. And then she lived a life being disappointed and abused by men. The unfortunate part is that her heart was taken from her in contrast to Snow White’s pure heart. This is my favorite adaptation of Snow White, not only because of Kristen Stewart, but because of how they allowed her to be human and multifaceted and not overly written. She had her way with all things living, but we weren’t forced fed a scene of her singing in the trees while animals surround her.
I especially enjoy watching the roles the men take in this film. They become fierce and focused protectors of Snow, but they never dwindle her down to a “damsel in distress”; they allowed her to be a fighter on the frontlines with them; in fact, they encouraged her to be the face for their army.
As for the visuals, beautiful.
The balance between action based scenes and nature themes with fairies, creatures and colors, this movie really brings the whole world building together.
I just can’t stand movies that try obviously hard to make a woman multifaceted, as if women like that couldn’t exist. It isn’t overly tacky in romance or typical Princess story aspects. No one relies on gender stereotypical roles. Love is shown in different ways. The visuals are just right for the story. And the writing isn’t difficult to follow, but it’s also not a bland.
Among all of that, I do appreciate that they kept some prominent Snow White canonical ideas in the story (the dwarves, the poison apple, true love’s kiss).
This movie might not be for everyone, but any pure hate is so forced and just comedic all on its own.
PS They did my boy, Gus, dirty.

Snow White and the Huntsman
5/5. Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who IS the fairest of them all?
Snow White might be one of those stories that are “overdone” but I think this is one of the better interpretations of it
