Shrek 2 is a comedy masterpiece, to the development within its exceptionally well done references, along with its comedic and extremely memorable and entertaining jokes.

1st Act 8.6/10 (Starts off alright, but the second we meet the king it really gets funny.)

2nd Act 8.8/10 (Jokes are on point, just a meddling plot lets it down.)

3rd Act 9.3/10 (Plot is very well done and the jokes are at their very best throughout the whole act.)

Plot 8.9/10 (It’s a Shrek movie.)

Soundtrack/Score 9.4/10 (Peak 2004 music.)

Acting 9.2/10 (God I love Eddie Murphy.)

Pacing 9/10 (Perfect for an animated DreamWorks flick.)

Cinematography 8.7/10 (Some decent shots but falls only decent.)

Shrek 2 is one of the best DreamWorks features and one of the best animated sequels ever made. It takes everything that made the first film a phenomenon and amplified it to create an unforgettably hilarious experience.

The way this movie is pretty funny but got more serious and in a way suspenseful??? Like it’s shrek but i was deadass getting all excited after seeing the big muffin man take shrek to the dance before the kiss 😭😭 8/10

Can’t skip the best animated sequel ever for Shrek Day. The satire and banger soundtrack still totally blow me away.

What Worked:
• The animation glow-up! Puss’ fur and the lighting make Far Far Away look super rich.
• Pure 2000s music energy. Blending the score with pop hits keeps the flow fast-paced.
• Saunders and Banderas are top-tier additions that keep the humor feeling fresh.

The Friction:
• The potion factory scene really stalled the momentum for me; it felt like a detour.
• Fiona’s parents constantly arguing dragged the pacing down compared to Shrek and Donkey’s wild road trip energy.

Verdict:
Watch for a comedy that outshines the original.

Not even 10 minutes in and there are nods to specific ROM Coms. Flawless Execution!
