A black gay icon who is not talked about enough! Such a beautiful film & tribute to this legend. A lot I never knew since school systems left this out of history books. Colman Domingo acted his ass off, I hope him and the movie is considered during award season. Can’t say enough.

“That’s illegal” “so are we” is one of the CLEVERIST lines of exposition I have ever heard

Domingo’s performance was incredible, but everything else fell flat. For such an important figure in American history this film could have been stronger. There were some aspects of the story that were changed for dramatic effect, yet there still wasn’t much of it.

Pretty good movie about the civil rights movement, with a strong side of LGBTQ movement too.

this story means more to me personally than any movie i’ve seen my entire life and i’m not exaggerating. when i was a freshman in college, i was tasked with doing a report on Bayard Rustin and it changed my entire life and the way i view the world. i hate to admit it, but it made me bitter and angry to core — feelings that i have harbored since then. he was the mastermind behind the largest peaceful protest in american history, but he has been erased from it and all because he’s gay. as a queer black man who grew up hating himself, it would have meant the world to me to know that an icon like Bayard Rustin existed. but no…he was forgotten because he was gay. it ruined my entire view on history and america.
but now… this movie… this story… getting a glimpse of the man i consider to be my absolute greatest hero… it means more to me than i could ever truly put into words. i loved every second of this movie, cried during 85% of it, and it cured my deep bitter and angry feeling. because we cannot live in a world of PEACE if we harbor anger and resentment. my hero taught me that 💕

insightful and inspiring film about the man who organized the largest (to date) peaceful protest and march in our country to shed light on civil rights and racism
