I initially had this at a solid 6.5/10 until it came around to a rewatch. Simply put, it doesn't have a shelf life past a single viewing. RIP to The Rip. I don't know where to start with the bad, so I'll begin with the good and the ugly. Affleck and Damon are fantastic. The casting is great. The tension is tense. The mystery is mediocre. The plot plods along. The dialogue is cheap, and the action is starved. The business behind the scenes has me confused, from the Netflix pay deal to the defamation case and so on. I would look more into it, but I fear it would be just as much of a waste of time as the rewatch was.

This RIPS! Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are always great together, with a stacked cast alongside them. I was in and along for ride from the first second. The whole movie had me on edge questioning what was going on and who to trust. The scene towards the end in the tank was so tense.

The first half is much stronger than the second with enough distraction and diversions to keep you guessing. At some point they make it pretty clear who’s bad but there’s still enough to keep up the tension. A stacked cast so the acting is great. Just a solid, entertaining movie.

As someone who suffers with insomnia, I'm shocked I managed to get through this film without dosing off... I don't know what other Queue users were watching when reviewing this, but this genuinely was an abysmal watch. Made no sense to me, quite literally a pointless mess 😭

I absolutely love it when Ben and Matt star in the same film together! It’s an action, mystery thriller wrapped up in a heist film. You absolutely don’t know who to trust as you follow along with these detectives. I had a blast watching this and I think most people will too!

This was awesome 🔥 the suspense and intensity was felt throughout the entire film. It’s such a simple concept but it’s done in a very genius, intercut manner, similar to Nolan’s style which just elevates the whole thing for me.

Affleck and Damon stand out strong in this but I gotta give props to everyone else involved, especially Steven Yeun and Kyle Chandler. All 4 of them had my brain running in circles trying to figure out who was in on it all and who was figuring it out.

Highly recommend if you wanna see a throwback buddy cop thriller, that actually stays serious throughout the entire thing and isn’t just a joke by joke story 🔥

Such a great one from Matt Damon, AS ALWAYS! Kept me on my toes and had so many different suspects. Really only watched it because of him 💛

Good action movie, first half is much better than the 2nd half. Kinda wish the twist wasn’t right in the middle, felt like it took away from the rest of the movie. Cool premise and flows pretty well. Nothing crazy though just an average action movie.

Ben and Matt together again finally! Yeah this was a good movie. Had me wondering who was on the right side of things until the end.

Between a thriller and an action movie, perfect match

A solid crime thriller with good pacing. Nothing about it redefines the genre and it uses many familiar crime thriller tropes. Overall, it’s just indistinct. But, it’s at the top of some other Netflix mush.

what a banger.

matt & ben are actually incredible together. the duo nobody asked for but everybody needed.

cinematography stands out so fucking well in this. phenomenal camera work. especially those car mount action shots.

beautiful bokeh, color pallet, production design.

i knew the moment i saw the initial trailer this would start the year with a bang.

honestly really great writing, loved the dialogue, the plot twists, and the energy this film gave.

great job netflix, would be pretty stoked for a part II
