All the different pop culture references make this a very fun watch

Steven Spielberg has basically made the best possible version of this material. He made a heckin fun movie, full of stunning action sequences and laughs and winks at the kids who grew up watching Back to the Future and Jurassic Park and E.T. and Indiana Jones.

Hot take, I don’t like this movie. It relies heavily on pop culture. There’s nothing new here, the story is as basic as it comes.

I think Spielberg has passed his peak in making family movies. He’s been doing better in more mature movies.

I like it!! As a gaming nerd there are many pop culture game references (or ester eggs) which i think is a huge bonus

An exceptional film that makes you wish for something like the Oasis.

This film checks three pick boxes for me. One it’s directed by one of the best directors of all time Steven Spielberg, two it has many pop culture references, and three it is a story about a video game world.

So much exposition, not a fan. It coasts off references to 80s stuff in my opinion. It would be a meh if it wasn’t uncanny at times in the worst way.

If only Speilberg did this in parts. The soundtrack is awesome, unlike the score. The acting is brilliant, especially from Olivia Cooke. The vfx, sfx, cgi, and motion capture was beautiful. Seeing so many different eastereggs, it really is a movie nerds type of movie. The story was great but terribly done. I would allow the one-off, non sense scenes, but a good chunk of this made absolutely no sense, and if it did, then it was the epitome of stupid. I loved the jokes and the hidden messages, but some of the ideas made me feel really uncomfortable. Also, I want a ready player two.
