Stuck between meh and like. This had a lot going for it but ultimately i don’t feel it was executed all too well. The whole internet technological aspect is dropped around the hour mark and then it really drags after that. The loneliness is effective but boring.

Very eerie and creepy ghost story, but the sound design above all, I think, was most frightening for me. Japan always delivers some of the best unsettling movies you'll ever see. I do believe the 80-90 min mark would've benefited the film because it does overstay its welcome a little bit.

the first ghost that scaree Yube was so unsettling especially how she moved. overall feel of this movie is dread and loneliness

06/10/25 it was a bit long and creeped me out a bit. i liked how its so low quality that you can make out faces in the dark parts without them being there, i kept scaring myself lol

A great Japanese existential-horror film. One of the first films to incorporate technology into horror.

This one is difficult to rate. I thought I would hate it because I was falling asleep while watching it. It’s too long and slow which made it difficult to keep engaged. However, it’s creepy, I like the ghosts, the sounds and aesthetics. The ending was interesting, I think it was creative, not a typical ghost story conclusion.

as much about loneliness, love and friendship as it is about death, the themes hit well and the actors were good BUT
as adept as kurosawa is at framing of a scene or lighting or whatever film fundamentals you can name .. the tone feels off, doesn’t feel like horror most times

6/10. Maybe I just don’t get it, but I didn’t really love this movie. It’s got good visuals and a pretty cool plot /theme, but I got a little lost at some point. I’ll blame it on the shitty translation

an eerie horror watch with a great concept and solid execution. i was unnerved by the creepy audio design, especially with the ghost voices and excellent ambient music. definitely minimalist in style but delivers a strong narrative that smartly incorporates technology
