Probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen

7.1 - A much less affecting version of David Lowery’s A Ghost Story (one of my all time favorites).

First, don’t expect a horror. The POV of the spirit takes away any chance at jump scares or any typical horror hallmarks. What’s “scary” here is the family dynamics. This is a familial trauma drama - looking at the effects of neglect, divided parents, loss, & new environments.

The POV of the spirit is unique & lends itself to some really great long shots & some decent emotion. The dialogue is occasionally rough, & the acting is a mixed bag but I can’t decide whether to attribute that more to poor writing or the fact this movie is primarily centered on teens.

But what was most frustrating is that it took me all of about 20 minutes to figure the entire plot out. The dialogue is so heavily laced with clues that I felt like I had zero surprise at the film’s emotional climax. Regardless, it’s still one of the more unique movies I’ve been to recently, does In A Violent Nature’s POV flip a million times better, and still delivers a decently moving story.

I wanted to like this. A pov of a ghost set in a haunted house sounds like a great premise. Yet the storyline is a one note melodrama with a horrible reveal near the end. Combine all that with cheesy acting and I just can’t recommend it.

the most disturbing thing about this movie is when I saw it in the cinema during the scene at the end with the orange juice the guy in front of me was giggling like a teenage girl as he handed her the orange juice (the second time). disgusting and very telling on the world now :(

Imaginei que fosse algo mais pro lado do terror, mas me deparei com um drama que simula uma câmera em "primeira pessoa invisível". Apesar da idéia ser legal, a execução e o enredo ficaram devendo... Se eu ficar pensando mais, a nota vai cair mais ainda. Nota 5,5.

Pretty good to be honest new idea I haven’t seen done before the pov was solid and the story was well written the acting was a little off at times but overall I’d say it’s really well executed the twist wasn’t bad either the movie overall gets a good rating from me personally

I like the idea of making the film from the perspective of the ghost but I expected so much more.

I wasn’t sure about this movie at first. It takes a little bit to get going, however as it continued, it really grew on me and by the end I was completely hooked. This is not a scary movie, but it’s a movie that makes you think and it’s done so creatively well. Give this movie a chance even if you end up not liking it. It still deserves a watch from its creative storytelling.

Say what you want, it was a decent watch. It was slow, the plot could’ve been improved, and I’ll admit the execution was choppy at times; but this movie did make me feel an array of emotions, and that’s exactly what I’d expect a movie of this genre to do

I like the idea, from a movie-making and story perspective but I probably wouldn't recommend it. The already short runtime could have and should have been even shorter. The carrot-grated dialogue and stage play acting needed to be smoother. Especially since the filming/editing felt like an iPhone advert. A positive would be the family dynamics and stories. They actually had relatability, but spun off with dead comedey. Not sure if it's Sonderbergs intention, it doesn't help though. I doubt many people made it to the end because it didn't feel like it was getting to one, even when it got to it.

Worst movie of all time. Camera cuts are brutal. Acting is wooden. Plot is terrible. -100/10. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Its 85 minutes of your time you will not get back.

Really enjoyed this one. Some strong mildly innovative storytelling and enough to have you thinking and talking about what things mean and how things work several hours after. Short, sad, and sweet. Worth a watch.

Not egg

Watched it tonight in a secret screening with my dad. Wow, 10/10. The cinematic interior is to die for, I couldn’t help but think about all the scenes I’m going to use for my uni art work. The plot was really interesting, the characters are likeable, the house is really cozy…

Complete dog water. I’m sorry but this movie was a huge waste of time. It felt like it wanted to develop the character more but kept getting in its own way… honestly wish I would’ve shut it off sooner. I’ve seen better acting in a ravioli commercial

As a family drama, I found it decently interesting. It’s well-paced and it teases just enough information to keep you interested.

However, a horror movie it is not. And I don’t just say that because it’s not scary. It’s just genuinely not a horror movie at all. The only “horror” aspect is the story being told from a ghost perspective. Had this been marketed as a supernatural drama, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. But I just kept waiting for it to be scary.

Story and genre aside, there is some baaaaaad acting in this. Lucy Liu and Callina Liang are both solid. Chris Sullivan is ok. Everyone else? Absolutely horrendous. So much of this felt like a high school stage production. The dialogue, delivery and use of the physical space feels so weird and stilted.

I don’t know what to say. I liked it enough from Liang’s performance and the story that I was intrigued through the end. But the overall quality is pretty mid and it is largely forgettable. It’s a really fascinating premise that could be done in a very scary way. But, it’s not.
