Portrait of a Lady on Fire
In French, the title is “Portrait de LA jeune fille en feu” which means “portrait of THE lady on fire”. For it to be “a lady” the French title should’ve been “portrait d’une jeune fille en feu”. Subtle but changes everything, Heloise isn’t just any woman on fire, she’s THE woman.

i’m devastated. beautifully done movie. I’ve been avoiding this one for a while cause I knew it would fuck me up. the longing looks were well done, I felt them so deeply. the portrait of her with her kid while holding open page 28 almost made me bawl. the closing scene was crazy.

Really beautifully shot, well acted and emotional. Was a slow burn that took a while to appreciate, but it really comes together incredibly in the end. Very rare that a movie depicts a lesbian couple without sexualization and this movie does it far and away better than any other

100/10.Magnificent, a work of art. Very, very beautiful film.
Everything is perfect. One of the only films that represents true lesbian love and passion. I came away with tears in my eyes and goose bumps. This film made me want to believe in eternal love.
Bravo les lesbiennes

Im NOT saying it was a bad movie, it just wasn't for me. I'm not really into longish films with 60% silence 40% dialogue. I only liked the last 20 minutes, although the final scene not. I honestly expected way more due to its fame.

Mercii beaucoup❤️

what a masterpiece. every frame could have been a painting, and every nuance could have a whole essay written about it. it’s a slow burn, but beautiful. can’t recommend this enough.

From the first minutes you can tell it was made by a woman and I absolutely adored it. The end was just pain and misery but the movie in itself was beautifully made. 100% recommend this historical lesbian tragedy as I like to call it

I expected it to be a lot better. Overhyped in my opinion. Probably bc we get like 2 lesbian medias a year. It was very long and boring, and did not have much to it.
