Portrait of a Lady on Fire

You will never forget this movie

In French, the title is “Portrait de LA jeune fille en feu” which means “portrait of THE lady on fire”. For it to be “a lady” the French title should’ve been “portrait d’une jeune fille en feu”. Subtle but changes everything, Heloise isn’t just any woman on fire, she’s THE woman.

i’m devastated. beautifully done movie. I’ve been avoiding this one for a while cause I knew it would fuck me up. the longing looks were well done, I felt them so deeply. the portrait of her with her kid while holding open page 28 almost made me bawl. the closing scene was crazy.

This was peak. Idk why the hell I put off watching it for so long.

A beautiful love story, a touchstone of the 21st century. What a great movie! The coven chant scene is top tier.

I fucking loved this movie. Idek why (aka my closeted gay ass loved that wlw shit). Def want to rewatch again. Would be cool to revisit now that I have a GF.
