You will never forget this movie

In French, the title is “Portrait de LA jeune fille en feu” which means “portrait of THE lady on fire”. For it to be “a lady” the French title should’ve been “portrait d’une jeune fille en feu”. Subtle but changes everything, Heloise isn’t just any woman on fire, she’s THE woman.

i’m devastated. beautifully done movie. I’ve been avoiding this one for a while cause I knew it would fuck me up. the longing looks were well done, I felt them so deeply. the portrait of her with her kid while holding open page 28 almost made me bawl. the closing scene was crazy.

Beautiful movie. Wonderfully shot and focused on every emotion the characters felt. Last scene was absolutely perfect. Felt like i was present trying to understand Heloise and Marianne. The silence perfectly contributed to understanding them by simply observing their characters.
