My favourite thing about this movie, is that main character smiles for the first time when he answers 'i don't know' to the girl who asks him to solve a math problem.
It proves that math is standing in our way to happines :D

Very up to the viewer to determine what it means. I think Max transcends and survives, because he leaves the 216 number to himself. Only he wanted to truly understand it, so only he will. He stops killing ants in his apartment because they only want to exist and learn, like him.

Uhhhhhh I love Darren Aronofsky so much and appreciate this movie so much, but of course there’s a “but”. It’s so one of a kind, and a trippy watch, but I’m just too dumb for this. Like it hurt my brain to try to understand it, and I was kind of bored and falling asleep

a stellar debut from legend darren aronofsky, the central narrative is intriguing as are the motives of the main characters. definitely indie in every regard, but that’s most of the appeal; unique visuals and strong writing throughout

Wow. Pure talent. Reminded me of Lynch's Eraserhead.
I'm def watching more of Aronofsky's work. Loved the story, the surreal music and the shaky camera shots. Incredible ending too, liked how he finally became happy and free, and kind of became a computer like Sol told him.

Darron Aronofsky’s debut; a tale of religion, obsession and the search for meaning. He manages to pull a lot off while working on only a shoestring budget.
