Persuasion

Worst Jane Austen adaptation I think I’ve ever seen. Persuasion is my favorite of her novels and that butchered it. The dialogue is cringe, Johnson should never been cast as Anne. It was a pretty movie though…if you watch it on mute you might like it. Henry Golding was perfect.

If you like the book, you probably won’t like this movie. It changes the characters completely and the original themes are almost completely forgotten.

However, if you haven’t read the book this could be a mildly enjoyable comedy.

6/10 I enjoyed this, don’t take it too seriously. If you are anticipating the perfection of 2005’s Pride & Prejudice you will be disappointed. I’d probably watch again.

Some of the dialogue irked me, such as ‘he’s a 10’ but apart from that it was a great tribute to the book!!

Based on a book, aesthetically pleasing and chill to watch my only cons of the film are the 4th wall cheesy approach to the main character Anne Elliot and the pacing around how the ending of the film unwraps, it doesn’t feel impactful possibly same might be in the book.
