Crazy how Martin Scorsese was the best actor in this film.

It’s a decent directorial effort from Jonah Hill, it feels like him criticising a lot of things and just getting shit off his chest. Which is fine, works of self-actualisation can often be good - but here it all feels pretty self-indulgent and that’s he’s trying to shift the blame for his mistakes onto others.

Keanu Reeves is good here, he’s never been particularly graced with acting ability, but man does he have charm, It’s worked his whole career and still does. Interesting role to take on, feels like a would-be mirroring of his own; being the “nicest guy in Hollywood”, his own substance abuse of the past. It’s bold, and I think it works for the most part.

Thankfully it was very short, as I think any longer and it would have derailed the good that’s in place. There’s a few moments that are genuinely worth watching but they’re often undercut by whatever bizarre thing Hill wants to throw in.

I honestly don’t even know where to start with this one. I really wanted to like it, and I kept waiting for it to click, but it just never did. The story didn’t pull me in, the pacing felt off, and by the end I just felt pretty indifferent to the whole thing.

If you skip this movie, you’re really not missing much. The only reason I didn’t give it a full thumbs down is because the cast is solid and they’re clearly doing what they can with what they were given but that’s about the only thing that worked for me here.

Sadly, the outcome was anything but worthwhile. The unnecessarily convoluted plot feels out of touch and pretentious, in the sense that it seems to ignore much of reality to get a surface-level point across. I enjoyed the cancel culture theme as well as the satire, but the pacing and screenplay made me want to cancel this as a whole. The performances are cheap, which is insane considering how expensive the names attached are. All in all, it felt like a waste of both my time and theirs, or maybe I'm being too harsh.

What a bland and monotonous film that doesn’t have anything of substance to say by the end. The drama here is definitely better than the comedy side. Extra points for being only an hour and 25 minutes long.

Such a pity that all those talents had to be part of this apple style propaganda of the “new normal”

Well, it’s ok. A man that needs the world to love him, only to find out that when he is in peace with the ones he loves he doesn’t need the entire world. It could’ve been a fantastic movie with amazing actors, but it is very bland and doesn’t grab your attention.

I’m so bummed at how bad this movie is. There are so many big name people in this but I really watched it for Keanu Reeves. It’s just A LOT of language and a lot of not funny jokes. It’s about how the average person doesn’t understand how hard it is to be a celebrity and it’s just out of touch. Don’t waste your time.

This stacked cast must all have blackmail tapes on them is the only explanation that makes this movie make sense.
