One Piece Film: Strong World

i didn’t like the weird animals fighting, except billy he was sweet but everything else was so good :)
i liked how everyone especially sanji was so protective of nami, unfair to make her relive trauma :(
i think this is the only time franky wore pants even if it’s for two seconds

This was a very fun movie. I didn’t care for Shiki the golden lion as a villain all that much. Nami being taken hostage was a captivating story. Some good fight scenes with all the Straw Hats. And I always love all the different outfits and looks they have in these movies.

Strong World is the 10th film release of One Piece’s packed catalogue of filler and non-canon work and while it remains disconnected from the overall story it easily fits into both that narrative and design of the larger world very well. Character designs are great, music was awesome, and the animation gave a glimpse into the crisp, vibrant art design that would follow the time-skip, however instances of CGI being mixed in was shocking in a bad way, it just looks off. With all of this in mind we come to Shiki who stands apart from his supporting cast as he is a legitimate character with an actual story, even more so he literally exists in canon, it begs the question of why this film is even considered filler in the first place. Shiki’s design and power is exhilarating, they play to it well and give him and Luffy their due during their duel with him representing a glimpse into what the powers of Law and Fujitora would introduce later on through their devil fruits. Overall it’s a fair film, a fine one, it trades a lot of action for world building (again the design was spectacular) yet the pacing never faltered because of it. As an existing fan of One Piece this is a 4/5
