Once Upon a Time in America Reviews

I finally plucked up the courage and watched Once Upon a Time in America. The soundtracks are great and the movie is about the grand illusion of the American Dream. I could sum this movie up as a mix between The Untouchables and The Godfather.

I should have noticed it was 4h long before I committed to watching this movie.. but it was worth it! A bit rapey.. but overall the story is told in an interesting way, and the way it’s filmed and scored is quite beautiful. Just very, very long…

WORTH THE TIME. We saw the extended cut and some things were a little confusing but it’s a great and compelling story with all the complexities of an unconventional life in a time without many rules and too much need.

It’s good but complicated emotions around the protagonist. Unlikely to watch again tho tbh

Cinema. Evidence that it is possible for a long film to have great pacing, driving by a great plot, with memorable performances and moments which make you remember why you love cinema. This is probably me just being pretentious, but this film is a must for any cinema lover.

Wow.. blown away. The story is definitely a slow burn but you get pulled in & you have to find out how this one ends!

This movie changed my damn life

9/10 Great story, cast and soundtrack. The director may have lingered in the early scenes causing the film to stretch to 3h 49m. The same impact provided if 49 minutes had been edited out. This aside, the story/film stands shoulder to shoulder with Godfather. Recommend

Definitely not for me. Maybe it's the genre, but I thought I was open to anything, and only Scarface has managed to satisfy me among gangster films. The visuals are quite beautiful, and the film has its own unique quality, but I just can't get into it. And it's four hours long...

Loistavat musiikit, upeat näyttelijät, mutta aivan surkean epärealistinen ihmiskäsitys käsikirjoituksessa. Vihasin kaikkia hahmoja. Se mikä onnistui ja samalla vei pois luotaan oli että kaikki hahmot olivat raiskaajia, roistoja anti-hyviksiä 7/10

I’ve seen some movies with some POS protagonists, but De Niro’s character here is so hard to care about.
