Nightbitch
One of the most bold and creative films of the year. Shows how brutal motherhood can be. Amy Adams is phenomenal in this film

i feel like a lot of people that didn’t get this movie aren’t tired, burnt out stay at home moms. i am, and i felt very seen by this movie. the acting was great, and i personally liked that they didn’t give the characters names because it’s easier to see yourself in the role. the “turning into a dog” aspect that other people seemed not to like… i thought it was more symbolic, not literal. again, i think to get this movie you have to relate with it, and most viewers don’t i guess. i watched this with my husband and he definitely saw parallels between the storyline and our experience as new parents. overall, weird movie in the best way.

The more you watch, the more drugs you believe was used during the writing process. “I could crush a walnut with my vagina” 😭 I lost it at the barking

i feel like i can kinda understand what this movie is trying to do, but it’s just coming of weird asf. by not telling us the names of the mother, baby, or father kind of reduces them to their roles in the movie but the animal twist is really really weird. couldn’t even finish it.

"The pain, the sacrifice, that shared bond of all you've given up for the continuation of the species." ♡
Honestly good. Loved the overall representation of the themes, motherhood/seeing things from her perspective/ the domestic life, etc.
But the whole dog thing was just too-

great work by amy adams. love how the ending took a positive outlook on women’s relationships and motherhood to juxtapose with the cynical, bordering pretentious tone of the beginning. there’s one quite grotesque scene but overall it’s truly a good movie and social commentary.

I don’t understand the point of this movie? And it was based off of a book, too?
I feel like the meaning of the movie was that moms can go “insane” if they don’t have time for themselves? But her turning into a dog? 8 nipples? Killing her cat? Making her son sleep on a dog bed? It’s was all disgustingly strange.
Not to mention, I feel bad for the little toddler they made be in this movie. 0/10

The Searchlight intro always guarantees me a thought-inducing experience, and an Amy Adams performance is always worthwhile. The genius in turning aggressively misused words into something positively powerful makes me want to bark and wee in public. To put it short though, it's 'Puppy' size on plot and entertainment, 'Husky' size on lessons, enjoyability, and motherhood. Adams entirely embraces the role, but I refuse to believe she's 50, and the kid? They both fill me with so much appreciation and heartache for my mum. Male or female, seeing the traditional alongside the 'animalistic' just reminds you of how much we take for granted with so much insignificance. The satire moves erratically between being a total contraceptive to being completely wholesome it's ironically exhausting.

I fear this hit a little too hard being 2 months post partum 🫠 truly a horror movie with a wastrel of a husband featured here. It lost me with all the dog parts but when it came to the monologues … 🫢 too real

As a stay at home dad to a little one, I felt a lot of this. I couldn’t relate to everything of course, but I felt seen.

This was an alright movie. I am a lesbian who has never had a child so needless to say this movie was not for me, but i definitely can see how this movie could really mean something for who it is intended for. I found this on a horror list, and it is not that, it is feminism.
